Passports for adults

Passports for adults

All Italian citizens residing within the jurisdiction of this Consular Chancellery, whose personal information is up-to-date and regularly registered with the AIRE, can apply for the issuance of a passport.

Passports are valid for 10 years.

Appointment Booking

Appointments must be booked through the Prenot@Mi portal. This should be done no earlier than six (6) months before the passport expiration date, but with sufficient advance notice. Keep in mind that waiting times may be longer before summer and major holidays.

Consular Fees

For the consular fees applicable in the quarter when the application is submitted, refer to the consular fee table available here.

Required Documents for the Issuance of an Ordinary Passport

  1. Completed and signed passport application form;
  2. Identification document pursuant to D.P.R. 445/2000;
  3. Previous Italian passport;
  4. For your first Italian passport, a document proving Italian citizenship;
  5. Recent passport-sized photo (taken within the last six months);
  6. Payment in USD for passport issuance;
  7. Parental Consent: Article 20 of the Legislative Decree of June 13, 2023, no. 69, converted with amendments by the Law of August 10, 2023, no. 103, simplifies the passport issuance process for parents of minors. Parents no longer need to exchange mutual consent; a self-certification to be completed on the appointment day at the consular counter is sufficient;
  8. Citizens who acquired foreign citizenship after the entry into force of Law 91/1992 must present a copy of their naturalization certificate.
