Emergency Travel Documents (ETD)

Emergency Travel Documents (ETD) (for Italian tourists not residing in the United States)

Italian citizens – tourists or in transit in the United States – whose passport has been lost or stolen can ask this Consular Chancellery to issue an emergency document for their return to Italy (or their country of residence) called an Emergency Travel Document (ETD).

An ETD has a maximum validity of 5 days and may be used only to return to Italy or your country of residence. To contact the office, email pass.washington@esteri.it.

 

Required Documents to Submit

  1. Completed application form, specifying the request for an Emergency Travel Document;
  2. Copy of the loss or theft report filed with the local police;
  3. Two passport-sized photos;
  4. Copy of the airline ticket with the confirmed departure date;
  5. Passport number of the lost or stolen passport;
  6. Payment of consular fees of 1.70 USD in cash.
