Emergency Appointments for Ordinary Passports
Italian citizens registered with the AIRE can request the issuance of a new passport with an accelerated procedure in cases of a documented and justified emergency.
If the reasons are recognized as valid, an appointment will be scheduled, subject to the payment of specific emergency fees as required by law. For the fee, consult the consular fee table.
The mere possession of an airline ticket cannot be considered a valid reason for the expedited issuance of a passport.
Urgency procedure benefits for work and health reasons cannot be extended to the applicant’s family members.
To make an emergency appointment, send an email to pass.washington@esteri.it. The Office reserves the right to assess the validity of the reasons claimed.
The Consular Chancellery recognizes preferential lanes for applicants falling into the following categories:
- Pregnant women
- Individuals over seventy (70) years of age
- Disabled individuals
- Children under twelve (12) years of age
Those falling into one of these categories can contact the Passport Office at pass.washington@esteri.it to schedule an appointment.
