Today marks the conclusion of an intense week of work at the Embassy of Italy in Washington, held alongside the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, as well as the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) Gala scheduled for this evening.
“The annual meeting for consular coordination and promotion of Sistema Italia [Italy’s institutional network] in the United States has become a well-established event of great utility and importance. It allows all the players in our network to exchange views on tools and working methods, discuss the challenges and opportunities ahead, and bring together ideas, proposals, and best practices. All with one goal: to make Italy even stronger in this country,” commented Italy’s Ambassador to the United States, Mariangela Zappia.
The three-day event, which began last Thursday, was attended by all Sistema Italia components in the United States: Consuls General, representatives elected by Italians abroad (members of the Italian Parliament elected from overseas constituencies, CGIE, and Comites), Italian Trade Agency Office Directors, Directors of Italian Cultural Institutes, representatives of the Bank of Italy, Scientific Attachés at Italian Consulates, and the Director of Innov.it, as well as Embassy officials, Attachés, and representatives from the Italian Chambers of Commerce present in the United States.
Alongside the consular coordination meetings and Sistema Italia promotion, the Embassy yesterday also hosted the presentation of the Strategic Study on Development Opportunities in the USA for Italian Companies and the Italy – US Tech Business & Investment Matching Initiative, reaffirming the front-line commitment of the Embassy in Washington and the entire network’s mission to promote Italian companies in America.
The recent events, including today’s stop at the Embassy by classic automobiles from the 1000 Miglia for the final leg of the 1000 Miglia Warm Up USA 2024, follow Tuesday’s event on the reconstruction of Ukraine attended by Kyiv’s Minister of Finance, and the concert by the Band of the Guardia di Finanza (Italy’s Financial Police) celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Corps, both hosted at the iconic venue designed by architect Piero Sartogo.
