Focus on the Italy-USA partnership in space during Ambassador Zappia’s visit to Italian companies at Satellite 2024 in Washington D.C.

S.E. l’Ambasciatrice con i partecipanti all’evento

Italy’s Ambassador to the United States, Mariangela Zappia, visited “Satellite 2024” yesterday, the main private sector event in the space industry in the United States. Italy is participating in the event this year with an entire pavilion of 12 Italian companies, organized by the ICE agency (ITA Houston) in collaboration with the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and the Embassy in Washington, in addition to the Italian groups Argotec, Thales, Optec, and Telespazio, also present with their own stands.

Engaging with all the Italian companies present, the Ambassador highlighted the centrality of the private sector in Italy-United States collaboration in the space sector, emphasizing the $4 billion in trade exchange in the sector in 2023 and the over $40 million in investments made by Italian companies in the space economy for expansion projects in the United States. The Ambassador reiterated the Embassy’s support, on the impulse of the Farnesina, for strengthening the Italy-United States partnership in space, recalling the commitment made in this direction by Prime Minister Meloni and President Biden in the joint statement issued last July. The first Italy-United States Space Dialogue will be held in Italy in the fall.

The 12 Italian companies present in the Italian pavilion at Satellite are: Leonardo, D-Orbit (space logistics and transportation), Airbus Italia (satellite telecommunications), Zoppas Industries (heating technologies for space applications), Space Products and Innovation (satellite construction), Picosats (small satellite construction), Aiko (space software applications), Sitael (satellite construction), Cospal Composites (construction of reflectors and panels for antennas and radio telescopes), A.D.S. International (construction of adaptive optics for telescopes and satellites), Roboze (3D printers), New Production Concept (construction of satellite components).
