Washington, DC (June 26, 2023) – On Friday, June 23rd, the Italian Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, visited Washington.
In the morning Minister Crosetto, accompanied by the Ambassador of Italy to the United States, Mariangela Zappia, went to Arlington National Cemetery to lay a wreath in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and a floral tribute on the grave of the Italian serviceman buried at Arlington Luigi Bartolucci Dundas.
Minister Crosetto then met at the Pentagon with his U.S. counterpart, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, for a discussion on the current international situation and various issues including NATO, the Alliance’s Southern Flank, the Enlarged Mediterranean, Africa, and the Balkans. The Minister and the Secretary affirmed their common desire to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
The Minister then held a press conference at the Embassy of Italy and finally greeted the diplomatic mission’s staff.
