Language Proficiency Certification
Only certifications attesting the level of Italian proficiency issued by the following institutions are accepted:
- CILS (University for Foreigners of Siena)
- CELI (University for Foreigners of Perugia)
- PLIDA (Dante Alighieri Society)
- Cert.It (Roma Tre University)
- University for Foreigners of Reggio Calabria
The following individuals are exempt from submitting language proficiency certifications:
- Foreigners (even if resident abroad) who have signed the Integration Agreement pursuant to Article 4 bis of Legislative Decree No. 286/1998 (Consolidated Immigration Act).
- Holders of a long-term European Union (or European Community) residence permit pursuant to Article 9 of the same Consolidated Immigration Act (even if resident abroad), only if issued by the Italian authorities. – Note that residence permits for family reasons or those issued by other countries are not eligible.
- Individuals who have obtained a qualification from a public or private educational institution recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research and/or the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
- Exemption may also be granted to those with serious limitations in language learning abilities due to age, illness, or other disability. In these cases, a medical certificate illustrating the applicant’s limited language learning abilities issued by a public institution is required.
