REFERENDUM COSTITUZIONALE 2026: RILASCIO DEI DUPLICATI

CARD 8 ORIZZONTALE

March 5, 2026

Please be advised that STARTING SUNDAY, MARCH 8, 2026, voters who did not receive their absentee ballot packet for the constitutional referendum scheduled for March 22 and 23 at their residential address, may request a DUPLICATE from the Embassy in Washington, DC.

The request for a duplicate may be submitted in person at the Consular Office or sent by mail, by regular email, to this address: anagrafe.washington@esteri.it, or by certified email, to this address: amb.washington.consolare@cert.esteri.it. The request—which can be made using the form available here—must be accompanied by a valid identification document.

Voters requesting a duplicate ballot packet must declare that they are aware of the criminal liability resulting from voting more than once, as set forth in Article 13 of the Italian Civil Code. Article 18, paragraph 2, of Law 459/2001, which states: “Whoever, in parliamentary elections and referendums, votes both by mail and at the polling station where they were last registered in Italy, or votes multiple times by mail, is punishable by imprisonment for one to three years and a fine of €52 to €258.”

After carrying out the appropriate checks, this Embassy will provide the necessary instructions to interested parties for issuing a duplicate. The duplicate ballot can be sent to the requesting voter’s residential address (if there is time to receive the package) or issued in person during the Consular Office’s opening hours (Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM).

Please note that this Office will also be open to the public during the following special hours exclusively for the issuance of duplicate ballot packages:

  • Saturday, March 14, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and
  • Sunday, March 15, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Finally, please note that the pre-stamped envelopes containing the ballots upon which voters registered their voting preferences must reach this Embassy by 4:00 PM on Thursday, March 19, 2026.
