Il Min. Plen. Alessandro Gonzales, Vice Capo Missione dell’Ambasciata d’Italia a Washington, con i relatori

The steady rise in the value of the creator economy and its growing influence, even in the realms of politics and diplomacy, were the central themes of the latest event in the Digital Diplomacy Series, held yesterday at the Embassy of Italy in Washington, titled Power, Influence, and Technology in the Creator Economy.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Chief of Mission Alessandro Gonzales emphasized how creators have now become key players in public discourse across a wide range of sectors, from art and culture to the economy. For policymakers and diplomats alike, it is therefore essential to maintain close dialogue with the online world and the individuals who shape it.

The event featured a conversation moderated by journalist Kaya Yurieff of the renowned tech publication The Information, and included Sabino Curcio, content creator of @growingupitalian; Janice DeGarmo, Chief Operating Officer of the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue University; and Jayme Franklin, influencer and founder of The Conservateur.

A lively Q&A session followed, sparking an engaged debate with active participation from the large audience in attendance. This latest event of the Digital Diplomacy Series reaffirmed the Embassy of Italy in Washington as a vital venue for dialogue and exchange on the themes of digital diplomacy.
