Italian Language Week: Award ceremony for our 2018 video contest

The winners of our 2018 video contest on the 12 fundamental principles of the Italian Constitution, part of Italian Language Week her in the US, were honored yesterday at the Embassy of Italy in Washington DC during an Award Ceremony. Domenico Bellantone, First Counselor, opened the ceremony illustrating the actuality of the Italian Constitution to the students of the Wheaton and J.F. Kennedy High Schools.

The jury, composed by Giulia Prati, Head of Cultural Affairs, Emanuele Amendola, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute, and Maria Fusco, Director of the Education Office, stressed how the winning video by a group of Wheaton H.S. students showed originality, analysis, and ability to showcase their knowledge of the Italian language.

Ambassador of Italy to the US Armando Varricchio awarded praised the four winners, John, Althea, Alice, and Ingrid, for producing the winning video, titled: “Il Potere in Italia: il Nono Articolo” (Power in Italy, the Ninth Article).

All students that participated in our video contest received a merit medal. A special thanks to the dedicated teachers who advised and mentor the students in creating their videos, Paola Scazzoli of Wheaton High, and Ilenia Di Cesare of Kennedy High, for their dedication and commitment in promoting the Italian language and culture.
