The Embassy of Italy in Washington hosted a gala last night to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Leadership Council for Women in National Security (LCWINS), a bipartisan American association dedicated to advancing gender equality in the field of national security. The guest of honor was Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks, and among others in attendance were former Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, the first Republican woman elected to Congress from Florida. Over 200 guests participated in the event, including high-level representatives from the Departments of State and Defense, the White House, the intelligence community, and industrial groups active in sectors related to national security.
