The Ambassador of Italy to the US, Armando Varricchio attends the G7 Youth Summit (Y7).

Washington, June 4, 2020. The Ambassador of Italy to the United States, Armando Varricchio took part today in the G7 Youth Summit (Y7) which brings together young and emerging leaders from G7 countries every year to talk about the main economic, political, social and security issues at the world level.

The event, organized by Young Professionals in Foreign Policy in collaboration with the White House and the State Department, was held for the first time in virtual format due to the crisis caused by the covid-19 pandemic. The Y7 represents an opportunity for new generations who will be called upon to develop innovative proposals to be presented to the G7 Heads of State and Government.

During the conversation, Ambassador Varricchio recalled the importance of the G7 in the context of world governance, as an assembly of free and democratic countries. Today more than ever – the Ambassador recalled – a greater, more effective and responsible international collaboration is necessary, which passes through the strengthening of the bonds of friendship with those countries – such as those of the G7 – which have always been the backbone of Italy’s international relations.

The Ambassador underlined in particular the role of the younger generations, whose ideas and actions have a fundamental importance in influencing the decision-making process of our leaders. Their voices – emphasized the Ambassador – are tuned to the future of our countries and our planet and deserve to be listened to carefully.
