Sudden passing of NIAF’s Chairperson, Gabriel A. Battista (January 28, 2020).

Washington, January 28, 2020. The Embassy of Italy learned with great sadness about the sudden passing of Gabriel A. Battista, Chairperson of the National Italian American Foundation. During his tenure at the top of the NIAF, Battista contributed with determination to the continuous strengthening of relations between Italy and the United States. Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic since 2012, during his term, Gabriel Battista has infused new dynamism in the activities of NIAF, the main  organization representing the Italian-American community. His career at the top of important private companies, leaders in the communications sector, has been a striking example and a concrete testimony of the many successes that the Italian-American community has been able to build in the United States of America, integrating into the political  economic, social and cultural fabric of the country. “With Gabe sudden passing – Ambassador Varricchio said – Italy loses one of its most sincere friends, who has dedicated himself with passion and energy to strengthening the solid bonds that have always united our countries”. The Italian Embassy in Washington and the entire consular network in the United States are close to the relatives of Gabriel Battista and to the large NIAF family in this difficult moment.
