The Prime Minister and the President of the United States confirmed the strategic value of the bilateral relationship and the historic friendship that unites the two countries. They underlined the common desire to further deepen economic and commercial ties and to intensify the bilateral strategic relationship in the field of international security and stability. With this in mind, a strategic collaboration for the Mediterranean region and for Libya in particular, where Italy – as recognized by Trump himself – plays a fundamental role, was launched.

After talks in the Oval Office and an expanded meeting in the Cabinet Room, which was attended for the American side by Secretary of State Pompeo, Secretary of Treasury Mnuchin, National Security Advisor Bolton, National Economic Adviser Kudlow and USTR Lighthizer, the two leaders attended a joint press conference in the East Room.

During the visit, the President of the Council sat down for an interview with Bret Baier of Fox News, host of the “Special Report”, which was aired on Monday, July 30th at 6.00 pm.

Finally, the Prime Minister met the Italian press at the Embassy of Italy.
