The Ambassador of Italy, Armando Varricchio, presented his Letters of Credence to the Governor General of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, Her Excellency Dame Marguerite Pindling.
During his stay in Nassau, the Ambassador met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Financial Services, Trade and Industry and Immigration, the Minister of Tourism, Aviation and Bahamasair, the Minister of Public Works, and the Minister of Transport. The meetings confirmed the excellent extant bilateral relations between Nassau and Rome, amply testified by the different areas in which Italy and The Bahamas cooperate very productively. Talks held addressed various issues to include cooperation in matters of security, with particular reference to the fight against organized crime and the trafficking in human beings and drugs, financial regulation and fiscal transparency, as well as the many investment possibilities for Italian businesses in the archipelago. During his talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Varricchio renewed the invitation for him to attend the VIII Italy – Latin America and Caribbean ministerial Conference to be held in Rome on December 13, 2017.
Ambassador Varricchio also took part in the International Food & Culture Festival, and visited the Italian stand.
