Dear fellow Italians, dear Italian-American friends
On this day we honor the values of liberty, democracy and equality which are the basis of the Italian Republic and of our friendship and alliance with the United States of America. A solid bond, passed on to us by our forefathers, that finds every day fresh nourishment.
President Trump’s recent meetings in Italy, his first European stop during his mission abroad, have confirmed our common commitment to growth, prosperity, peace and security on both sides of the Atlantic. First and foremost they reaffirmed the historic, cultural, economic and social ties that unite us.
I have the highest consideration for your precious contribution to the political, economic and cultural life of all 50 States, where Italian professionalism, creativity, culture and language are highly appreciated.
Each and every trip I took across this marvelous country has rooted even further this conviction, as I had the honor to listen to you and to your stories of leadership and success.
Your energy and vitality are the tenets of the relation between our two countries, a unique asset on which to build an even more profound bond.
It is with this firm conviction that I send to you, Italians and Italian-Americans, and your families my heartfelt wishes for a happy Italian National Day.
Viva l’Italia. Viva gli Stati Uniti.
