International Women’s Day at the Embassy of Italy in Washington

The Embassy of Italy will host an evening to celebrate International Women’s Day. The event is organized by the Italian Association D.I.V.E (Italian Women Living Abroad) with the support of Italians in DC and the Italian Cultural Society.

The DIVE started in Bethesda in 2002, with the goal of promoting the integration of Italian women in the host country and to pass on Italian language and culture to the next generations.

The evening’s theme will be the contribution of women in spreading the Italian language in the US. Special recognition will be delivered to Prof Liliana Lanzano, to pay homage to her long and brilliant career as teacher of Italian language and literature in the DC metro area. Prof Lanzano will be awarded a sculpture with a plaque created by artists Giancarlo Chiancone and Maria Luisa Sylos Labini for this specific occasion.

As part of the evening’s theme, the following day the DIVE look forward to contributing to the welcoming of a group of Italian language teachers gathered for a training workshop organized at the Embassy.
