Jacopo Foggini (Turin 1966)

Foggini discovered the versatility of methacrylate, a transparent and light thermoplastic resin used in the automotive industry, and began molding it in the early 1990s to produce luminous forms and monumental works, unique pieces on the threshold between art and design. In 1997, he made his debut as an artist and designer with an installation in the Romeo Gigli showroom, and also opened a personal gallery. Since then, he has been a regular contributor to the Milan Furniture Fair, producing evocative installations including Devotion, Ofigea, sYmbols and Flysch. He has exhibited more than 60 times across the world, and his luminous sculptures can be found in the permanent collections at Haus der Musik in Vienna, the Museum of Fine Arts in Montreal, the Gandhi Museum in New Delhi and the World Expo Museum in Shanghai. The Musée d’Orsay commissioned 220 Nel blu dipinta di blu seats, which were produced by Edra. In 2006, he created a huge theater chandelier for the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Turin, later exhibited in Milan. In 2011, he presented the Super Eroe (Superhero) matryoshka at the Moscow Design Week. In 2016, he created the surreal candelabra for the entranceway to the Milan Triennale Museum. In 2018, at the University of Milan, he made an imposing installation in collaboration with Ferragamo; he returned in 2022, building Università Phoenix, a Hellenic-inspired temple dedicated to peace in the Cortile dei Bagni, and in 2023 with Acrylic Skyline, a polycarbonate city made of multicolored honeycomb panels, intertwined along the entire length of the West Loggia. As a designer, he collaborates with leading architecture firms on international projects, installing works in public and private spaces. He has been collaborating with Edra for over ten years on many successful projects.

Cicladi is a series of coffee tables with alabaster tops, made from the raw ovule of the evaporite mineral. The irregularity of the jagged edge, the mineral’s veining, its facets and its dimensions, which are always different, make this table a unique piece. (Jacopo Foggini)
