On the occasion of the 243rd anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, I take the opportunity to send you my best wishes and those of the people of Italy.
The shared values and principles of liberty, peace, democracy and equality constitute the precious heritage of the longstanding and fruitful friendship between our two countries, which is renewed daily through a prosperous, effective and multifaceted collaboration.
In the current international framework, characterized by multiple challenges, the United States and Italy, linked through the unwavering solidarity of the transatlantic bond, will continue working together on all occasions to defend and promote international cooperation and security, economic prosperity and social progress.
Our nations can count on the support of an active and dynamic community of Italian descent in the United States, as well as on intense and prolific exchanges in the many sectors that throughout the years have contributed to the betterment of the quality of life of our people.
With these sentiments, Mr. President, I renew my warmest wishes of well-being to you, your family and to the American people.
Sergio Mattarella
