If the fulfillment of obligations or procedures with the Italian Civil Service requires the entry and presence of the non-EU citizen in Italy, the issuance of the Tax Code (C.F.) must be requested at the Immigration Office (Sportello Unico dell’Immigrazione) or at the Police Headquarters (Questura) of the locality where the residence permit application will be submitted.
For matters unrelated to dealings with the Italian Civil Service, the request for a Tax Code must be made directly by the individual concerned or through his or her representatives in Italy.
