Operational shutdown of the operating system VIS IT for processing and issuing entry visas
Please be advised that from 6:00 PM* (Rome time, CET) on February 12, 2026, until 12:00 AM* (Rome time, CET) on February 18, 2026, the VIS IT operating system will be temporarily unavailable.
This is a planned and urgent technical intervention that will temporarily suspend the reception and processing of visa applications, as well as the issuance of entry visas. This suspension will affect the Visas Office of the Embassy of Italy in Washington.
Please be advised that, in order to minimize inconvenience to users, appointments already scheduled will be rescheduled for the days immediately preceding or following the period affected by the suspension, taking into account priority needs and the urgency of cases.
