Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sen. Matteo Salvini in Washington (June 17, 2019)

Washington DC, June 18, 2019 – During his visit in Washington DC (June 17, 2019) Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Senator Matteo Salvini met with US Vice President Michael R. Pence at the White House and Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo at the State Department.

The meetings allowed to strengthen the historic bond of friendship, rooted in the values of freedom and democracy at the basis of the Atlantic Alliance and fostered by strong political, economic, social and cultural relations. The meetings also confirmed the common approach on the main international dossiers.

Alongside the political meetings, the Deputy Prime Minister met Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform.
In the wake of the anniversary of the liberation of Europe by the United States, the Deputy Prime Minister laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Arlington National Cemetery and visited the Lincoln Memorial.
