﻿{"id":3167,"date":"2023-08-18T07:57:44","date_gmt":"2023-08-18T11:57:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambwashingtondc.esteri.it\/?page_id=3167"},"modified":"2023-08-18T08:29:46","modified_gmt":"2023-08-18T12:29:46","slug":"urbino-press-award-2010","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ambwashingtondc.esteri.it\/it\/news\/sala-stampa\/urbino-press-award-2010\/","title":{"rendered":"Urbino Press Award 2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>DAVID IGNATIUS<br \/>\n<\/strong>WINNER OF THE 2010 URBINO PRESS AWARD<\/p>\n<p>[testo solo in inglese]<\/p>\n<p>Notable Washington Post commentator David Ignatius is the recipient of the fifth edition of the \u2018Urbino Press Award\u2019 given yearly to an American journalist for distinguished \u2018reporting on the ever-changing world.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The decision was announced\u00a0on April 19, 2010,\u00a0by Ambassador of Italy to the United States, Giulio Terzi during a ceremony held at the Embassy in Washington and attended by major exponents from the world of journalism as well as representatives from the Obama administration. \u201cAside from recognition of the work of an excellent journalist \u2013 stated the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Maurizio Sacconi, in Washington for the G20 meetings and present at the award ceremony at the Embassy \u2013 the award represents a tribute from Italy to an American journalist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>National Security Advisor to President Barack Obama General Jim Jones was also present as were award winners from previous years. Thomas Friedman from the New York Times was the recipient of the 2009 award. \u2018The award \u2013 stated Ambassador Terzi before announcing the name of this year\u2019s winner \u2013 is by now part of the American capital\u2019s calendar of main events, also because it symbolically celebrates the bond between Italian Renaissance culture and the values of liberty and democracy on which the United States was founded.\u201d The award will be given to David Ignatius by Giovanni Lani, President of the Urbino Press Award, and by representatives of local authorities in a ceremony in Urbino on June 11.
