{"id":5655,"date":"2024-01-26T12:27:45","date_gmt":"2024-01-26T17:27:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambwashingtondc.esteri.it\/news\/dall_ambasciata\/2024\/01\/giornata-della-memoria-2024-allambasciata-ditalia-a-washington-con-bret-stephens-e-federico-rampini\/"},"modified":"2024-01-26T15:47:29","modified_gmt":"2024-01-26T20:47:29","slug":"giornata-della-memoria-2024-allambasciata-ditalia-a-washington-con-bret-stephens-e-federico-rampini","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambwashingtondc.esteri.it\/en\/news\/dall_ambasciata\/2024\/01\/giornata-della-memoria-2024-allambasciata-ditalia-a-washington-con-bret-stephens-e-federico-rampini\/","title":{"rendered":"International Holocaust Remembrance Day 2024 at the Italian Embassy in Washington with Bret Stephens and Federico Rampini"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday the Embassy of Italy in Washington commemorated International Holocaust Remembrance Day by hosting a conversation between Pulitzer Prize winner and <em>New York Times<\/em> columnist Bret Stephens and Federico Rampini, columnist for the <em>Corriere della Sera<\/em>, on the topic of \u201cAntisemitism and the Vulnerability of Democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Italian Ambassador to the United States, Mariangela Zappia, gave an opening speech underlining the importance of keeping the memory of the Holocaust alive, quoting Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tajani just a few hours earlier at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem.<\/p>\n<p>The conversation between the two columnists began with Bret Stephens\u2019 recounting his family\u2019s story, starting from his mother, born in Italy at the beginning of the Second World War to Jewish parents who fled from Nazi Germany.
