The event celebrating the seventy-seventh anniversary of the birth of the Italian Republic will be dedicated to Rome this evening at the Italian Embassy in Washington. The event hosted by the Ambassador of Italy to the United States, Mariangela Zappia, will be attended by the Italian Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Sen. Adolfo Urso, and the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo. The reception will be attended by the Hon. Christian Di Sanzo, in addition to the President of the Comites of Washington, Maby Palmisano, and all the members of the Comites itself.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe choice of Rome, forever among the cities most known and loved by our American friends, is linked to three elements that make it even more special this year,\u201d highlighted Ambassador Zappia, \u201cThe bid for the 2030 World Expo, the famous Ryder Cup of golf that our capital will host between late September and early October, and a new direct air link to and from Washington by ITA Airways, operational from June 2nd<\/sup>.\u201d<\/p>\n Rome will be promoted with installations open to the public at the Embassy \u2014 starting from a miniature Colosseum \u2014 the screening of promotional videos and stands of the Expo bid, Ryder Cup, ITA Airways, and the Ministry of Tourism\u2019s \u201cOpen to Meraviglia\u201d campaign. Products of the city\u2019s culinary tradition and Roman wines will also be the basis of the reception\u2019s menu.<\/p>\n To entertain the Embassy\u2019s guests, a rich cultural program, starting with a musical performance by soprano Katerina Burton, accompanied by Joy Schrier, Washington National Opera pianist. There will be a dance performance dedicated to Rome by choreographer Mimmo Miccolis, with four dancers from the Washington Ballet, and original music by the Roman composer Francesco Lanzillotta. Guests can visit a photo exhibition that celebrates the primacy of Italy as the country that features the largest number of sites in the world included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The exhibition, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation together with the Ministry of Culture, includes 17 photos of the most recent Italian sites included on the UNESCO List.<\/p>\n There will also be an Amazon stand, aimed at promoting Made in Italy products of excellence offered on the digital platform in the United States, as part of the \u201cDigital Made in Italy Days\u201d project scheduled from May 29th<\/sup> to June 2nd<\/sup>.
