The Ambassador of Italy in the US, Armando Varricchio, capped a visit to Tennessee with a stop at the Beretta factory in Gallatin, inaugurated in 2016. The meeting with top executives of the Italian company concluded a trip meant to strengthen the strong economic ties that connect Italy with the South-eastern State and also to underline the \u201ctradition of excellence of our industry, admired everywhere in the USA\u201d, as stated by Ambassador Varricchio.<\/p>\n
During his meeting with Ambassador Varricchio, Governor Haslam underlined that many Italian businesses have decided to invest in Tennessee, taking advantage of the favorable conditions offered to foreign direct investments. Haslam recalled that since 2011, Italian companies have invested over 400 million dollars in the State, creating approximately 5000 jobs.<\/p>\n
In Memphis, Ambassador Varricchio visited the National Civil Rights Museum commemorating the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King\u2019s assassination. He underlined how, \u201cfreedom, democracy and the protection of human rights are the supporting pillars of our transatlantic relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cultural relations were also the focus of the visit. In Nashville, the Ambassador toured the exhibition \u201dRome: City and Empire\u201d currently at the Frist Center for the Visual and Performing Arts and spoke at the conference \u201cModern Challenges in Ancient Art.\u201d He stated, \u201cthis is an occasion to reflect on our common cultural roots and the collaboration between Italy and the USA in the protection of our common cultural heritage.\u201d<\/p>\n
