Inauguration of the Venetian master&#8217;s retrospective at the National Gallery of Art (Washington, March 19, 2019)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Washington, 19 March 2019 &#8211; The genius and creativity of Tintoretto conquer Washington thanks to the first retrospective of the Venetian master in the USA, officially inaugurated at the National Gallery of Art, one of the main American\u00a0cultural institutions.\u00a0 Presenting the exhibition &#8220;Tintoretto: Artist of Reinassance Venice&#8221; and the two related exhibitions &#8220;Drawing in Tintoretto&#8217;s Venice&#8221; from the Morgan Library and Museum in New York and &#8220;Venetian Prints in the time of Tintoretto&#8221;, were the new Director of the NGA, Kaywin Feldman, the Italian Ambassador Armando Varricchio, the Mayor of Venice, Luigi Brugnaro,\u00a0in Washington for the occasion, and the two curators, Robert Echols and Frederick Ilchman. The exhibition,\u00a0organised in collaboration with the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia and the Gallerie dell&#8217;Accademia, will allow the American public and the many foreigners who visit Washington every year to admire a number of paintings by the great Venetian artist spanning his entire career, for the first time in display outside its hometown<\/p>\n<p>A monumental work that further consolidates the very close cultural relations between the United States of America and Italy and that\u00a0 brings Italy and the City of Venice, its splendours and artistic treasures, ever closer to the American public. The genius and the innovative spirit of Tintoretto &#8220;remind us &#8211; Ambassador Varricchio said -&#8221; how Italy and Venice, at the\u00a0crossroads of cultures for many centuries, have always combined tradition and innovation, looking to the future without forgetting the past&#8221;. These concepts were also emphasized by the Mayor of Venice, Luigi Brugnaro, who recalled the values \u200b\u200bthat bind Washington to the City of Venice.
