The two brothers were among the founders of the Associazione per il Disegno Industriale (Industrial Design Association). Their works are exhibited in many museums, such as MoMA in New York, Victoria and Albert Museum, Royal Institute of British Architects, Mus\u00e9e des Arts D\u00e9coratifs and Vitra Design Museum. Between 1984 and 1995, Achille Castiglioni organized two traveling solo exhibitions, which he brought to 14 cities throughout the world. Over the course of their career, Achille and Pier Giacomo received many Compasso d\u2019Oro Awards (1956, 1960, 1962, 1964, 1967, 1979, with two prizes, 1984 and 1989).<\/p>\n<p>The base containing the upward-facing lamp is made of a chromed metal cylinder covered with a ring whose surface is textured for cooling, lacquered with heat-resistant paint. The reflector is a convex disk of lacquered aluminum supported by an inverted bell made of clear glass, which rests on the base and can rotate, allowing the reflector\u2019s disk to face different directions.
