New York, October 13, 2019. Italian Ambassador Armando Varricchio, with Consul General, Francesco Genuardi, participated in the traditional Columbus Citizens Foundation Gala, at the presence of Andrew Cuomo, Governor of New York, and Angelo Vivolo, President of the Foundation.

The Ambassador mentioned the recent Proclamation by President Trump for Columbus Day and recalled the difficulties encountered by the first Italian immigrants in the United States' as well as "the contribution of the Italian-american community to the greatness of the  US, from politics to the economy, from culture to science."

During the evening, the Foundation honored Massimo Ferragamo, President of Ferragamo USA, as the Grand Marshall of the Columbus Day Parade 2019 and awarded Rosanna Scotto, anchor of "Good Day in New York" on Fox, Giovanni Colavita CEO of Colavita USA and the Bruno brothers, restaurant owners.

Today, the Ambassador attended the flower-laying ceremony at Columbus Circle.
