The Italian Ambassador to the USA, Armando Varricchio, took part in the inauguration of "Borders: a Flash of New Italian Fashion" an initiative, promoted in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy, the Italian Trade Commission in NY and the National Chamber of Italian Fashion (CNMI). The initiative aims to present, in an exceptional place, new brands, young designers, innovative trends, that constitute an integral part of Italian fashion, a sector that boasts a long tradition and that is fully immersed in the future.

Moreover, with this project, CNMI emphasizes the relationships between Italian fashion and other forms of expression such as music, art and design, and highlights the most modern, innovative and less known aspects of the fashion industry in Italy.

Set up on the High Line in New York City, a public park known for its innovation, sustainability and openness, the exhibition will be open for the whole day on Friday 17 May.

"Borders: a Flash of new Italian Fashion", emphasized Ambassador Varricchio, "brings Italian trademarks from a fashion capital to another. Design, sustainability, creativity and style, all enclosed in a single event. An initiative that highlights the collaboration between cities, businesses and individuals always infusing new life into a dynamic sector like fashion and enriching relations between Italy and the USA ."

Italy is the leading exporter to the USA in the high quality fashion sector. With around 9 billion USD in total, Italian fashion is one of the main items of export in the United States.

The inauguration was attended by the Consul General Francesco Genuardi, the Director of the Italian Trade Commission of NY, Maurizio Forte and the President of the National Chamber of Italian Fashion, Carlo Capasa.
