Italy at the Invictus Games 2016 in Orlando, Florida


17 Italian athletes belonging to the Paralympic Sporting Group of the Italian Ministry of Defense are participating in the Invictus Games, an International Paralympic sporting event dedicated to active duty personnel who have developed permanent disabilities during a tour of duty or as a result of duty.

The event is scheduled on May 8-12 at the ESPN World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.

The Italian delegation is competing in ten sports, including basketball and wheelchair rugby, swimming, archery and athletics; among the countries represented by the 600 participants are the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Afghanistan, Estonia, Canada, and Australia.

Leaders of the Italian delegation are the Undersecretary of Defense Hon. Gioacchino Alfano and the Defense Attache’ of the Embassy of Italy in Washington, D.C. Maj. Gen. Luca Goretti.
