Vital Records

Vital records collects certificates of certain aspects in the life of a citizen: birth, marriage, death, divorce, citizenship. The registration of these certificates is the responsibility of the municipalities in Italy or of the Consular offices abroad.

U.S.-issued vital certificates that are to be recorded in Italy must be in long form and bear the date the certificate was filed with the appropriate office in the U.S.

Documents issued by the offices listed  above are to be translated into Italian, legalized by apostille and accompanied, depending on the document, by the forms that can be downloaded using the links below. The translation of the certificates must be declared true to the original by the Consular office.
